Depending on the stage of advancement of the periodontal disease, the purpose of surgery will be to:

Eliminate the tartar under the gum

This procedure consists in detaching the gum from the tooth to approach the root in order to remove any biofilm and tartar present. This technique promotes complete healing of the gum around the tooth, thus eliminating the periodontal pocket.

Restore the bone

This procedure consists in filling in any bone loss using synthetic materials or an autogenous bone graft.

Restore the gum

Two procedures are possible:
. Fitting of a membrane (resorptive or not) to restore the damaged gum. This membrane forms a barrier, allowing new tissue to reform.
. Autogenous graft of gum taken from the palate.

Relieve the oral mucosa

In the event of gum inflammation or trauma, the use of locally applied cicatrizants may also be recommended
