Gingivodental crevice depth:

The size of the pocket can be measured by your dental surgeon using a periodontal probe placed between the free gum and the tooth.
 . Healthy gum: gingivodental crevice depth = 0.2 to 2 mm
. Gingivitis: loss of adhesion = gingivodental crevice depth = 1 to 3 mm
. Periodontitis:  periodontal pocket = gingivodental crevice depth ≥ 4 mm


Gingival fluid and pus:


Fluid detection may require specific exploratory equipment, or it may appear by simply pressing the gum.
 . Healthy gum: no fluid or pus
. Gingivitis: no fluid or pus
. Periodontitis: clear to viscous and purulent fluid


Bone loss:

Bone loss is assessed by X-ray.
. Healthy gum: no bone loss
. Gingivitis: no bone loss
. Periodontitis: bone loss
